From All-American to Author, Dismuke Encourages Track and Field Athletes With Novel SPRINT DREAMS

New Jersey native and former professional track and field athlete, Faith Dismuke encourages athletes to hold on to their dreams despite COVID19 with college-set, track and field novel SPRINT DREAMS.

(Orlando, FL, June 10, 2020) - Spring and summer 2020 sports events have been cancelled or suspended due to COVID19 across the United States, including the NJSIAA spring season, NCAA spring championships and Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics. However, this pandemic has not stopped former USA Track and Field athlete and Passaic County native, Faith Dismuke, from encouraging athletes with her debut novel, SPRINT DREAMS

SPRINT DREAMS is a story of perseverance and emotional growth. Eighteen-year-old Makeda Delane is a fun-loving Jamaican-American girl determined to compete with the best of collegiate track and field. However, leaving the comfort of her inner city historically black university causes an emotional downturn for the athlete. On top of the pressures of competing at an elite level, Makeda’s insecurities lead her to fall for unexpected love interests in her new university. If Makeda does not get a hold of her careless decisions, her All-American dreams will be in jeopardy.

The college-set novel is one of few stories in #ownvoice literature that intersects the experiences of athletes and college students of color. It’s unique perspective comes at a time where college athletes are dealing with the disappointment of losing their spring and summer season due to the COVID19 pandemic.

“SPRINT DREAMS is a story of encouragement not just for athletes struggling through unexpected setbacks but for teens and young adults struggling to accept themselves and their uniqueness,” says SPRINT DREAMS author, Faith Dismuke

During this time, college and high school students would have been preparing for graduation ceremonies and/or training for outdoor conference championships and state championships. Instead, they are left in a state of unknown with the outcome of their education, competition season, and summer plans. SPRINT DREAMS may be the story that many of these students need for motivation during COVID19 social distancing.

Readers can order the novel on Amazon.
